What, statues can't have a sense of humor?

HP - Dude
So, uh. I bring more pictures? Mostly just because I slaved away on this for most of the evening (from 7:30 until about now) so I figure at least I have something to show for it?

So I went to lay out the fabric to work on it... and Sashi decided to "help":

XD What is it about pieces of fabric on the floor that attracts cats with more consistency than catnip?

Anyway, here's what I have done so far! There are no sleeves yet, and I still have to do the tie on the front and take an iron to the seams, but it's mostly done! Which is good, since the worst part of HP cloaks is that they're lined, so you have to make two for every one you actually end up with. ._.;

I tried lining it differently than I've done previous cloaks... I think it actually turned out really well! Basically I made two complete cloaks and connected them everywhere but the armholes. So the only inside seams at all will be where the sleeves attach, which no one will see. I'm rather proud of how well my ad hoc method turned out, if I do say so myself. XD; Even if I had to turn it inside out and take it in a couple of times. Gah, I just did not need that much fabric flapping around my robes!

I think I am definitely going to put my name on the back. (Or, well, Mallory, anyway. XD;) I'm not sure about the stripes or stars on the sleeves... they look hella cool, but I don't know if I want them, and I might not have time anyway. Well, I guess I can always put them on later? Now the question is, what kind of design for the name on the back! I've seen so many different ways to do it...

AND NOW I AM TIRED. =_= I'm tempted to take tomorrow off from sewing, it would be kind of nice... And maybe I'll go to JoAnns and/or Michael's instead, to get Pippi supplies? Gah, I have to get the other two wigs I need, I'll do that tomorrow too. And I think I'm just going to wear my brown work boots for Pippi, which is totally wrong but I have no clue where I'm going to find her shoes. :x It'll be okay, I think~

So Leah moved out of the back of the office yesterday, finally clearing it out for the postdocs who are supposed to set up camp there. The first one arrived today; I totally forget his name (I am awful with names ;_;) but he seemed pretty cool. He's Australian. And he was amused by the action figures. :D; Always good!

Okay. Now I am going to go watch the rest of Return to Neverland, which I tried to do while eating dinner but then the power went out so I had to read and eat instead. And then maybe I'll work on my PJO story some more... or just get lazy and read or something. XD; I am beat!

Thank you! :D I wanted to get more done, but I was just too wiped out to work on it any more. XD At least it's almost there~ And haha, Sashi likes to sleep on everything I put on the floor, but especially fabric and patterns! And of course I couldn't move her because she was TOO CUTE.

I've always wondered how to line a jacket. These are going to turn out awesome. Also, as cool as these robes are, your Narnia dress is looking even MORE fabulous. I say keep the sequins on for a little glam.

There are a couple of ways I've figured out to do it, but basically you just make two of it, one with each fabric, and sew them together~

Thank you! :D <3 I might actually end up leaving them on, I'm not sure yet. They don't look as bad as I'd first thought, so I'll definitely consider it!

Hi, I don't mean to drop in so suddenly and for a purpose many people hate.

But I met you at [info]camphalfblood and we discussed roleplaying and such. I'm working on a game that is Percy Jackson based like I said I would. I invite for you to check it out.

Ohmigosh, I'd totally forgotten! I'm sorry, I had actually meant to try to catch you on AIM, things just got busy for me and it completely slipped my mind, so thanks for dropping me a note! I am definitely still very interested in a PJO game, I'll try to check it out this evening when I have a little free time. :D

Ooh, and just to let you know, now that I've taken a look I definitely want to join! I'm gone over the weekend but you can expect some applications coming your way when I get back~ ;D

:D Awww, your kitty is helping you sew your costume! :D And by 'help' I mean 'get in the way.' But it's the thought that counts, right?

Yay, can't wait to actually see the done deal at D*C!

XD It is the thought that counts~ I even put down Lucy's skirt so maybe she would sleep on that instead, but she was all, "No, I have to sleep on the one you're working on!"

I think I may die of heatstroke. XD But hopefully I'll look cool doing it. XD;

OH JESUS I just looked up the weather in Atlanta. @____@ I am going to be dying in my Hogwarts uniform (damn Atlanta and its weather being totally different from the Scottish Highlands)...BLARGH.

That sucks. :/

Well, at least you'll look cool fainting or something. I'll just look preppy. :p

Yeah, it's HOT. >< Welcome to the south in the middle of the summer. D: But at least it's air conditioned inside, and you don't have to go outside unless you're headed between the hotels.

XD; Okay now I want to take pictures of us swooning in the heat in our costumes. We can photoshop Draco and the twins in, even. >D

Oh god. *whimpers* I'm going to die of heat in my jumper and my robes! Who's gonna stay inside as much as possible? Skuld's gonna stay inside as much as possible!

And I am all for photoshopping our boys into pictures with us. YES I AM. :D

Also, can tell me which hotel we're staying at and what the address is? :D

I demand to see said pictures when you are done :P (Okay, not so much demand as request, but you get the idea--I wanna see you guys in your costumes :D)
[info]ad_exia wrote:

I think that's one demand we can give in to~ <3 Then you should make a uniform and we'll photoshop us all into one picture! :D;

:D Pics will be definitely be posted! (At least non-photoshopped ones. I'm not sure I'm even good enough at Photoshopping to stick Draco in without it looking obviously shooped. :p)

And you should get a costume together to so we can all hang out as Snogs girls someday. XD

Yeah, that's the best strategy. You know what else is hot? Starfleet uniforms. It must be -20 on starships, I swear. D:

XD It'll be brilliant~

Yep! We're staying at the Hilton Atlanta. The address is 255 Courtland Street NE, Atlanta, GA, 30303. (And their phone is 1-404-659-2000.)
[info]skuldchan wrote:

D: Yeah, starships do look kinda cold. I don't think I ever see people wearing shorts or anything on them except maybe on the holodeck.

Okay, yay! :D *writes down address* Thanks. X3 And I think I'm going to make the decision that there's no way I'm going to make it through security with a carry-on that'll hold all my costumes so I'm just going to check my baggage in. ¬_¬ Which means that if it gets lost it'll have to get directed to either the Hilton Atlanta or my friend's house in Raleigh. God I hope they don't lose my luggage. *sobs*

True, I think they must be regulated so that people in uniforms don't fry!

:D No problem~ Hopefully they won't lose your luggage! I know it's not all that rare, but it doesn't happen *all* the time either at least, so there's a good chance you'll be fine~ :D
[info]skuldchan wrote:

Yeah, they better not lose my luggage! They have a whole 40 mins. to get it over to my next flight when I change over at Austin!

Also, are we bringing swimsuits so we can lounge at the pool? :D I would love to spend some time outside splashing about. XD
[info]ad_exia wrote:

Uh... I have no clue if there even is a pool. XD; I've never looked.
[info]skuldchan wrote:

The hotel website tells me there's a pool, and apparently a track to run around on too. X3 We should splash around the pool! I'm a big fan. :D I'll bring my swimsuit.

:D Yay Slytherin!

I want to make some of my own, but I don't have time this year. So I just bought the kids' costume ones, because I am SHORT and they fit. ::diiies:: But I definitely hope to make my own in the future!

Ali-chan, Ali-chan! Taihen desu~! T__T I am very, very sorry to report that somehow, for a reason that completely defies logic, one of your mugs did not make the journey back from Tokyo in one piece. m(_'_)m

I'm not sure how it happened, seeing as how it was in the middle of my suitcase, in bubblewrap and surrounded by clothes. But it came back in two pieces. However, the other mug that was right next to it - perfectly unscathed. Needless to say, you don't have to pay for the broken mug, but you're more than welcome to keep it if you'd like to try gluing it back together. I think it's only in two pieces... maybe one smaller little piece. Again, I'm very, very sorry.

To make up for this, I'll give you some good news! On my last day in Japan, I found the Ryoma Star Night Rare card (or whatever it's called) for you! So you at least get something to replace the mug, even if it's not quite the same. Wow, this comment got long. ^_^;;

Eek! Well, that does happen, I've had it happen to me before too~ No worries, it sounds like you packed that thing as well as you possibly could've! I might keep the pieces and use it as a planter or something, then? XD; That'll work, if I glue them back together~ :D;;;

Also, OMG STAR CARD YOU WIN~ Thank you so much, that's so cool! <333
